I'm pregnant and my doctor recommended cocoa butter to prevent stretch marks. Maybe it works, but it also depends on a woman's body. I prefer PURE butter. I like the smell and how I feel it on my belly. There is no problem to melt it if you use your thumb to scoop it out, put on your hand palm, rub it a little bit and it will start melting fast, then apply on your body. I wouldn't buy any cremes.

5 out of 5 stars pure cocoa butter & smells delicious!   June 23, 2010

when i first opened my jar of pure cocoa butter, i noticed it was rock hard. this is in it's purest form so you have to heat it up, i put it in a bowl of hot water before my bath, and by the time i got out of the tub it had some oil-like consistancy. heated up & in the oil for its absolutly my favorite moisturizer! i used it from head to toe. It's sooo smooth & creamy, and not to mention the smell, it's like chocolote heaven!! also great for foot rubs. i've tried so many oils, creams, body butters, ect..and i will stick with the pure cocoa butter from now on. now foods sells it at a great price. I recently read the ingredients on some high priced body butter cream & it's basically shea butter, cocoa butter, & olive oil. So i figured for the fraction of the price i'll just make my own!! now foods also offers a great shea butter which is creamy and i reccommend for dry skin (or if you just like to pamper your skin) both butters!! Enjoy :)

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful, but don't let the jar frustrate you.   July 3, 2010

This stuff is great, but, first off, don't let the jar bother you. The Cocoa Butter arrived in a fairly sturdy plastic jar with the contents as hard as stone. Unlike Shea Butter, it needs to be warmer than body temperature to melt --but not much warmer. The plastic jar does not state whether or not it is microwavable, so I put it into a pot of hot tap water. I set the stove to the warm setting and waited for it to liquify, which was not too long. It floats when the butter is solid, but, when liquid will match the water level outside the jar. Make sure it doesn't tip over and spill the butter into the pot. Once the butter was liquid, I poured it into a resealable Pyrex bowl. Whenever I want to use it, I microwave it for about a minute at 50%. Easy!
The Cocoa Butter itself feels oily at first, but leaves the skin wonderfully soft and, warm, it's actually very soothing. It also works great as massage oil. It is hands-down the best soothing aftercare for epilation that I've ever found. I have extreme allergies that give me a horrid rash when I shave, so I've been using a mechanical epilator for years. I never get ingrowns or pimples when I use the Cocoa Butter. It's wonderful. Coastal Scents Cosmetics also sells pure Cocoa Butter in one and five pound quantities, if you want to order larger amounts.
Right after you put it on, it can come off on clothes. It washes out, but it you sit on a white sofa while it is freshly applied, then you might leave what looks like the bottom of a greasy fast food take out paper sack. I still love it, though. I just have a pair of darkly colored pajamas that I wear after applying it.

I received them very quickly. They are yellowish color. Smells like chocolate. Yum!! Makes me want to eat it!! I used it to make lip balms. It gave such a natural aroma to my lip balm and I love it! The only thing I would complain is that it's really hard. I had to use knife to cut it into chucks in order to get it out. I can imagine it would be quite hard to use it directly as a moisturizer. But the jar did give instructions such as microwave it for 30sec if it's too hard to use.
